14 Storey PCL Hotel - a challenging Measured Building Survey! Dec 2024

Providing a client with a full Measured Building Survey of a 14 storey hotel in Prime Central London is hard enough, but coupled with additional issues of tight timeframes, and only being able to access the site on Sundays raised a real challenge!In the weeks leading up to Christmas we were approached by an overseas client who was in urgent need of a MBS of a hotel...and it needs to be completed in 2 weeks. Not a problem we said, it'll be tight but we can provide that. Unfortunately for us there were some additional factors as play. As it was undergoing renovation it was an active building site, so we could only gain access on Sundays! Also, there seemed to be a continued depression in the weather which made external work very difficult.

However we persevered, and with two full Sundays worth of site scanning, all areas of the building inside and out were captured. We were using our trusty Trimble X7 digital scanner, which provided around 700 stations!

For Georeferencing of the project, we used a Trimble DA2 GNSS receiver providing both OS and height AMSL information.

The client was happy and we were able to relax for Christmas.
